Norwich City required an injury-time winner from Teemu Pukki to see off a resurrected second half performance from Bolton Wanderers in the day’s league action.

The league leaders went into their game on 40 points knowing anything but a win would see them lose their top spot if Leeds won against QPR. Things went well at first as Mario Vrancic opened the scoring on 38 minutes for the hosts before the half time interval.

After the restart, Marco Stiepermann managed to make it 2-0 in the 59th minute before the visitors clawed one back through former Newcastle player Sammy Ameobi four minutes later.

Mark Beevers made it 2-2 in the 88th minute which was followed by Ameobi being dismissed two minutes later. Temmu Pukki scored the winner for the hosts which secured them top spot for another week.

Elsewhere, Neil Harris’ Millwall managed a 2-2 draw with fellow relegation battlers Hull City which brought them out of the relegation places. The visitors took the lead three minutes in through Kamil Grosicki before Lee Gregory levelled 17 minutes later.

Aiden O’Brien made it 2-1 to the Lions nine minutes after the interval before Markus Henriksen scored in the 73rd minute which ultimately shared the points.

Basement side Ipswich Town lost 2-0 on the road at Stoke City today whilst there was wins on the road for Sheffield United at Reading, Derby County at Wigan Athletic, Swansea City at Brentford and Preston at Nottingham Forest. Birmingham City’s push for the play-off places took a dent as they also lost 1-0 at St Andrews to Bristol City.

Leeds United continued their push for promotion at Elland Road as they saw off Queens Park Rangers 2-1 thanks to a double from Kemar Roofe.

The two sides meet in less than a months time for the Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round at Loftus Road whilst Middlesbrough drew 1-1 with Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday drew 2-2 with Rotherham United.

Friday night’s match saw the West Midlands derby between West Brom and Aston Villa finish 2-2 as the hosts came from 2-1 down to secure a last minute equaliser though Jay Rodriguez in front of 26,513.
