A.C. Milan come out victorious 3-2 over Manchester City at Yankee Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, MA – Italian side A.C. Milan battled to a 3-2 victory over English side Manchester City in an International Friendly match on Saturday night.

The match kicked off at Yankee Stadium to a crowd of 46,122.

The match kicked off with Manchester City starting from the center circle. They elected to build out of the back to start the match.

A.C. Milan had the first moment of the match when Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s effort on the right-side of the box was saved by Ederson entering the 8th minute. The initial save led to a bouncing ball in the box that was later claimed by Ederson.

The Italian side had the next chance came entering the 9th minute when midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers found midfielder Filippo Terracciano making a run into the box. Filippo elected for a cut-back cross that was blocked away by Nico O’Reilly.

Milan continued to knock on the door when Davide Calabria’s finesse attempt was caught calmly by Ederson in the 11th minute.

Milan’s best chance of the match came entering the 18th minute when midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek broke down the line and found midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers on the left flank. He elected for a trivial cross that was initially trapped by midfielder Samuel Chukweze, and the close-range shot was missed just wide of the right post.

Entering the 19th minute, Manchester City took the lead.

Manchester City won the ball back due to increased pressure toward A.C. Milan’s backline. Midfielder #52 Oscar Bobb received the ball and drove down the right flank and elected for a cut-back pass to find forward Erling Haaland close to the penalty area for the easy finish into the bottom left corner past Lorenzo Torriani to make it 1-0 to City. A.C. Milan were protesting for a foul, but none was given.

Manchester City had yet another amazing opportunity in the 26th minute when Midfielder Oscar Bobb put on a dribble showcase in the A.C. Milan penalty area. He found Erling Haaland, but his effort went beckoning.

Entering the 30th minute, A.C. Milan leveled the match.

Following a bouncing ball in the penalty area, midfielder Samuel Chukwueze collected the ball and managed to complete a back-post chip to find Lorenzo Colombo for a headed goal past Ederson.

Manchester City then had a massive opportunity when Oscar Bobb’s effort right outside the six-yard box went wide of the right post. Should have been a clear goal.

Entering the 34th minute, A.C. Milan took the lead.

Following a ball to the back post, the ball fell kindly for forward Lorenzo Colombo, who elected for a right-footed volley that megged goalkeeper Ederson to make it 2-1. It’s his 2nd goal in 5 minutes.

Manchester City then had yet another amazing opportunity when forward Erling Haaland collected the ball and unleashed a left-footed shot that was met with a spectacular diving stop by goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani.

In the 35th minute, A.C. Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca was forced to make made his first change of the match. Alessandro Florenzi was replaced due to a knee injury by Tommaso Pobega.

Milan had the last chance of the half when midfielder Filippo Terracciano’s effort went over the crossbar from just outside the box.

After the initial 45+4 minutes, the match entered halftime with A.C. Milan ahead 2-1.

Prior to the start of the second half, both teams changed their kits. Manchester City (maroon) wore their new third kit while A.C. Milan (white) debuted their new away kit.

Prior to the start of the second half, Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola made his first 4 changes of the match by replacing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Erling Haaland, Maximo Perrone and Mahamadou Sushoho for Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Kalvin Phillips, Micah Hamilton & Jadel Katongo.

The second half kicked off with A.C. Milan building out of the back to start the second half.

City had the first chance of the second half in the 46th minute when a close-range effort went high over the bar.

Entering the 55th minute, Manchester City leveled the match.

Midfielder Micah Hamilton #92 took on Davide Calabria and played a beautifully weighted back-post ball to find the head of James McAtee to make it 2-2.

Manchester City’s next chance came from a long-distance effort by Josh Wilson-Ebrand that went high over the net.

In the 64th minute, A.C. Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca made his second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth changes of the match by replacing Ismael Bennacer, Fikaio Tomari, Matteo Gabbia, Samuel Chukwueze and Lorenzo Colombo with Mattia Liberali, Alejandro Jimenez, Malick Thiaw, Marco Nasti & Pierre Kalulu

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola also made his fifth and sixth change of the match by replacing James McAtee & Nico O’Reilly with Amar Fatah and Jacob Wright.

Entering the 66th minute, Manchester City thought they had equalized after Oscar Bobb rounded goalkeeper Ederson. He however was in an offside position when he received the ball. Still 2-2

A.C. Milan had the next opportunity entering the 71st minute when a long-distant effort by Marco Nasti was caught comfortably by Ederson

In the 72nd minute, A.C. Milan midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers was issued a yellow card for a foul on Jack Grealish.

Entering the 78th minute, A.C. Milan regained the lead.

Midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers played a cut-back cross to find forward Marco Nasti for the finish into the far left corner to make it 3-2 to A.C. Milan.

Following the goal, Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola made his seventh and eighth change of the match by replacing Ederson and Jack Grealish with Scott Carson and Joško Gvardiol .

Entering the 80th minute, A.C. Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca made his seventh, eighth, and ninth changes of the match by replacing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers with Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah & Adam Boukone.

After the 90+4 minutes, the match concluded with the A.C. Milan victorious over Manchester City, 3-2.
