Mark Robins’ Sky Blues are in somewhat of a ‘purple patch’ heading into this fixture. His side are currently five matches without a loss, scoring six and conceding just three in the process. They currently sit 19th, a healthy six points away from the relegation zone.

Their most recent fixture, a 3-1 victory over Rotherham, will have further boosted their confidence, proving the side’s ability to beat the opposition around them with ease. Coventry are showing clear signs of a team that will be comfortable avoiding the drop, a target that most supporters would’ve definitely settled for at the start of the season.

Tyler Walker is the player in blue to keep an eye on this evening. The young striker has scored four goals and registered a solitary assist this season, only Matt Godden has can equal his scoring record. Godden also leads the Coventry assist chart but won’t be available for tonight’s encounter.

Luton Town are another team certainly achieving their goals this season. After defying the odds last campaign and staying up by three points on the final day of the season, the Hatters look set to obtain a comfortable mid-table finish should their season continue the way it’s started. They currently sit 12th, fewer points away from the Play-Offs than the bottom three.

Nathan Jones’ side have won two of their last seven matches, lost two and drew the other three, providing the expected balance of results for a team set to finish in the position they’re currently possessing.

James Collins is the Hatters’ go-to man this season, notching six goals and an assist so far in his 14 appearances. The 30-year-old has been Luton’s top goal scorer for two consecutive seasons now and he’s well on his way to making it a third, he’s currently four goals ahead of anyone else in the squad.

Team News

Coventry goalkeeper Marko Marosi is out for the foreseeable future with a broken cheekbone, whilst Godden and Julien Dacosta will also join Marosi on the sidelines this evening.

Michael Rose missed the Sky Blues’ last fixture with a groin issue but could be in contention to return to the squad this evening.

Luton will be missing Matty Pearson after his sending off against Swansea, it also remains to be seen whether Sonny Bradley will return to the squad following the unfortunate death of his father.

Simon Sluga, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Martin Cranie are also expected to miss the Hatters’ trip to St. Andrews tonight, however Elliott Lee has returned, giving Jones a fresh attacking option.

Brendon Galloway may also return to the squad following a long lay-off from injury.

Robins looks ahead to the challenge that Luton will bring.

“Nathan likes to get his team playing positive, attacking football and they have had a good start to the season. They were unlucky in their defeat at Swansea City on Saturday and now have over a season’s experience at this level, so it will be another good challenge for us and one we are relishing.

“We should take confidence from our performance on Saturday and look to carry that into tonight’s game. We defended well, created a number of chances and scored good goals, worked hard and showed a tremendous attitude, we will be looking for more of the same this evening.”

Jones compares similarities between the two sides.

“It’s a similar trajectory to us, it probably took a year longer, but Mark (Robins) has been there a long time, done a great job, got two promotions and I watched them a little bit last year when I was in-between jobs.

“It’ll be a very tough game, as is every Championship game, but we’ll see what tomorrow night (now tonight) brings.

“I don’t think they’ve got superstars. I think they’re similar to us in that way.”
