Doohan got away well and held onto the lead into turn one ahead of his Trident teammate Schumacher. Sargeant made the move on Smolyar to move into third with the ART driver dropping down the field allowing the likes of Novalak and Vesti to make up places as they ran fifth and sixth respectively.

Zdenek Chovanec spun around at the final chicane as he looked to make a move up the order but it backfired dropping him down to plum last.

After three laps of racing, Doohan led the race followed by Schumacher in second and Sargeant in third. Collet ran fourth, Novalak in fifth, Vesti in sixth, Martins in seventh, Smolyar in eighth, Hoggard in ninth and Leclerc in 10th.

A lap later, Leclerc made his way past Hoggard and up into ninth place with the Jenzer Motorsport’s driver sent spinning dropping him down the order.

Doohan continued to dominate out in front as he set another fastest lap of the race and extended his gap to second place, Schumacher, to four seconds.

At the halfway point, Doohan continued to extend his lead out in front ahead of Schumacher and Sargeant in second and third. Collet followed in fourth, Novalak in fifth, Vesti in sixth, Martins in seventh, Smolyar in eighth, Leclerc in ninth and Hauger in 10th.

Matteo Nannini was another driver that spun at the final chicane on lap nine as the HWA driver had to abandon his car and retire from the race subsequently releasing the full Safety Car.

Amaury Cordeel was struck with two five-second time penalties after repeatedly running wide at turn nine. However, his evening was over as he collided with Calan Williams at the top of the hill which saw both drivers retire from the race.

Before the Safety Car was released once more, Hauger was able to get better traction out of turn one to overtake his Prema teammate Leclerc and move into ninth place.

Hunter Yeany was awarded a five-second time penalty for a Safety Car infringement, but more importantly at the front, it was Doohan that crossed the line to claim his second victory of the season ahead of Schumacher in second and Sargeant in third.

What’s Next?

Jack Doohan has an enormous chance to close the championship gap even further as he starts race three from pole position. With Dennis Hauger starting 14th once more, the Aussie will aim to score a decent amount of points to make the title battle very interesting heading into the final two rounds of the season.
