SMITHFIELD, RI– Rhode Island FC have signed defender Dani Rovira & midfielder Taimu Okiyoshi ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season.
Both players will occupy senior roster slots pending league and federation approval.
Taimu Okiyoshi is a 23-year-old, 5’9, 155lb, midfielder from Kobe, Japan.
At the club level, Okiyoshi has appeared in 102 career games (7,862 minutes) in the United States. Okiyoshi began his soccer journey with NJCAA side Salt Lake Community College (2020-22). He led the school to Salt Lake’s first ever National Championship. He then transferred to Marshall University (2022-24). During his time at Marshall, Okiyoshi was named to Topdrawer Soccer’s national best XI, United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American honors & selected to Sun Belt All-Conference First Team. He was a MAC Herman Trophy Semifinalist. Rhode Island FC is his first ever professional club.
In career numbers, Okiyoshi has tallied 16 goal and registered 20 assists along with 4 yellow cards and 0 red cards.
On January 16th, Rhode Island FC confirmed that he was signed to a one-year contract.

Dani Rovira is a 28-year-old, 5’9, 140lb, defender from Bogota, Colombia.
At the club level, Rovira has appeared in 138 career games (6,870 minutes) across the United States. Rovira began his soccer journey with NCAA Division III side Dean College (2015-16). He then transferred to University of Vermont (2017-18). In 2019, Rovira signed a professional contract with USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2019-24). Rhode Island FC is his second ever professional club.
In career numbers, Rovira has tallied 1 goal and registered 14 assists along with 19 yellow cards and 0 red cards.
