FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have loaned defender Ryan Spaulding to Birmingham Legion FC for the 2025 USL Championship season.
Santiago “Tiago” Suarez is a 19-year-old, 6’5, 179lb defender from Rocklin, California.
Tiago was signed to a multi-year contract with New England in November of 2022 after spending 2-years with Sacramento Republic FC academy (2021-22). In his deal, Santiago would compete in the 2023 season for the New England Revolution II, prior to elevating to the first team on a Homegrown Player deal in 2024. He spent the entire 2024 season on New England Revolution II.
In total career numbers, the defender has made 56 career appearances (4,124 minutes) at center back and right back where he has registered 1 goal, 0 assists with 10 yellow cards and 3 red cards.
He is eligible to represent the United States & Uruguay at the International level.

On January 3rd, 2025, Seth Macomber of the Blazing Musket had reported that New England were set to loan Tiago Suarez to Birmingham ahead of the 2025 USL Championship campaign.
My sources have confirmed that this is the case.
Suarez joins a Birmingham Legion FC side that just missed out of the 2024 USL Championship playoffs. They finished with a 13W-6D-15L, 45-point record.
For Birmingham, head coach Tom Soehn will look to continue to add to the squad ahead of the 2025 USL Championship campaign.
For New England, head coach Caleb Porter is looking to continue to rebuild ahead of the 2025 season with the New England Revolution. For All MLS content, you can find it on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
