Nottingham Forest look to build on from their victory against Blackburn as they face relegation-battling Rotherham United

After a resolute 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the City Ground last weekend, Nottingham Forest will look to build on from that win as they face relegation-battling Rotherham United.

Nottingham Forest have been able to pull away from the dreaded drop-zone after picking up ten points from their last five matches in the Championship.

The Reds have been in good form since the turn of the year with manager Chris Hughton guiding the East Midlands side up the table.

Slow and steady progress saw Hughton’s side pick up a valuable three points against Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers side last weekend at the City Ground.

Alex Mighten’s goal in the 26th minute was enough for Forest to grab the maximum amount of points against the out of form Rovers side.

That win allowed the Reds to move eight points away from the relegation zone as they look to rebuild and push on further up the table.

A side that is also looking to escape the drop are Paul Warne’s Rotherham United. The side is not new to this situation as they continue to bounce between the second and third tiers.

The Millers have not shied away from a tough relegation battle which they knew they were going to be in, but stringing a run of wins together has come as a premium for the South Yorkshire side.

Since the start of this season, the South Yorkshire side have only been able to manage two consecutive victories once which came at the start of February after a 3-0 victory over Derby County and a 2-1 victory at Preston North End.

During their last match, they faced Championship runaway leaders, Norwich City, as Warne’s men looked to stop the charge of the Canaries.

Norwich would secure the only goal of the match to extend their lead at the top of the Championship to seven points. Teemu Pukki’s goal in the 17th minute was enough for Daniel Farke’s men to continue their charge to the Premier League.

That defeat for the Millers was their 16th of the season, the joint second-worst record in the division alongside Bristol City and Preston North End.

With only two wins in their last five matches, the Yorkshire side will be desperate to get all three points on home soil as they look to survive in the Championship.

When the two sides faced at the City Ground, both sides took a point from the encounter with the sides drawing 1-1 back in October.

Forest had over double the number of shots that Rotherham had but failed to make anything out of the chances.

Warne’s side took the lead in the second half after Daniel Barlaser slotted the ball into the back of the net from 12 yards in the 51st minute.

Sammy Ameobi made sure that the home side would not come out of this encounter empty-handed as his goal in the 79th minute meant that the points were split between the two sides.

The Millers have only tasted victory on one occasion against the Reds in the Championship with the 2-1 victory coming back in April 2019 at the New York Stadium.

Could history repeat itself this Tuesday evening or will Forest cruise to victory as they continue to rise up the Championship table?

Chris Hughton will be hoping that after a good display against Blackburn his side can go onto earn all three points from this match.

On the other hand, Paul Warne’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after three consecutive defeats in the league means they currently sit one point above the drop-zone.
