Charlotte FC dropped points in a 1-0 loss at home to Atlanta United. Charlotte is now on a four match winless streak, their longest of the season.

The match was similar to many Charlotte FC matches this season, with Charlotte’s defense playing well but the attack struggling to generate quality chances.

Charlotte’s attack had 12 shots through the match with six on target, generating just one expected goal, while Atlanta’s attack had seven more total shots with the same number of shots on target, but generated 1.8 expected goals. Three of Charlotte’s shots and one of their shots on goal came from Patrick Agyemang, who played just 34 minutes after being subbed on for Karol Świderski in the 56th minute.

The substitution for Agyemang came after the Atlanta goal in the 55th minute from Ajani Fortune on a shot from outside the box.

Atlanta nearly added a second goal in the 94th minute, but a save by Kristijan Kahlina denied them a 2-0 lead.

With just seven matches left in the MLS season, Charlotte is in sixth place in the MLS Eastern Conference, just one point above Orlando City in seventh.

Charlotte FC has a week off following the loss. Their next match will be played on Saturday, September 14 against CF Montréal.
