New England Revolution hire Eric Schwartz as Director of Sports Medicine, Head Athletic Trainer

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have announced that they have hired Eric Schwartz (MAT, LAT, ATC, CES, PES) as the new Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Training.

Eric Schwartz, 30, joins New England with seven years of experience as an athletic trainer in Major League Soccer.

He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 2016 as well as a Master’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Arkansas in 2018.

Shortly after receiving his degree, Scwartz joined D.C. United as an intern. He was promoted to seasonal athletic trainer and then was elevated to Head Athletic Trainer. He was in this role for D.C. United from 2018-2020 working for the club’s first and second teams, as well as their academy programs. At the conclusion of the 2020 MLS season, Schwartz joined Sporting Kansas City where he was the club’s Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2021-2024.

In his role with the New England Revolution, Schwartz will now manage the day-to-day operations of the Revolution’s athletic training staff, overseeing medical treatment and rehabilitation program of the club’s MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, and MLS NEXT athletes.

He is replacing Josh Williams, who joined as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2022 and usurped the role after his promotion in January of 2023. He held 13 years of experience as an athletic trainer in MLS, NWSL, and the NCAA.
