Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves look to bounce back as the sides go toe-to-toe at the John Smith’s Stadium

With both teams being on the losing side last time out, Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves will both be hoping they get back to winning ways on Thursday night.

Huddersfield lost against Leeds Rhinos as they fell to a 18-12 defeat at Headingley. The Giants put in a spirited performance and set up a tense finish after Leeds were reduced to 12 men, but the Rhinos came out on top in what was a special night with Leeds legend Rob Burrow featuring as the guest of honour that evening.

As for Wire, they too lost in a shock defeat away at Wakefield Trinity as Trinity gave interim head coach Willie Poching a win in his first game in charge.

Mason Lino scored 16 points on his return from injury as Wakefield made a dream start under their new head coach.

The Wolves did fight back with three tries in five minutes to spark what would have been an unbelievable comeback but it wasn’t to be for Warrington who still sit in third in the Betfred Super League.

Huddersfield currently sit in ninth, but after a good run of form a few weeks ago, they will be looking to end the season strongly and look ahead to building for next season under this promising Ian Watson regime.

Huddersfield have named Jermaine McGillvary in the squad as well as Chris McQueen who also makes a return.

Warrington see Jason Clark back in contention after being out with an ankle injury. The squad also sees returns for Daryl Clark and Jack Hughes who return from respective one-match bans that prevented them from featuring in the most recent defeat against Wakefield. Robbie Mulhern also returns after undergoing eye surgery.

However, Josh Charnley hasn’t been included alongside youngsters Connor Wrench, Morgan Burgess and Tom Whitehead who also miss out on the clash in Yorkshire.

The Wolves will be keen to get back to winning ways as soon as possible to ensure they have as much momentum as possible heading into the play-offs. The Giants will be no easy match as they will be wanting to finish the season strongly and get the Huddersfield fans excited for next season and the potential this squad possesses.
