ART driver Christian Lundgaard showed his class around Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the Dane topped both the morning and the afternoon sessions on the first day of F2 testing in Spain.

Morning

The Danish ART Grand Prix driver set a lap time of 1:29.594 which was the fastest time of the morning session around Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Felipe Drugovich was second, two-tenths behind the ART, with Juri Vips in third, another two-tenths back. The two Hitech’s of Vips and Lawson weren’t split by much with the New Zealander in fourth by two-hundredths.

Lirim Zendeli placed as the best MP Motorsport in the morning with a fifth-place finish as Guanyu Zhou was only five-thousandths away from slotting in the top five.

Marcus Armstrong’s DAMS followed in seventh, Ralph Boschung a tenth slower than the Kiwi in eighth, Oscar Piastri was one and a half tenths behind the Campos in ninth and the second MP of Richard Verschoor rounding off the top 10.

The top 10 were separated by nine-tenths and looked so strong as they were only getting started with this being the first session in an action-packed three-day test around the Spanish circuit.

Dan Ticktum and Jehan Daruvala followed in P11 and P12 with the Carlin duo missing out on the top 10 by about two-tenths.

Roy Nissany was next in P13 with the DAMS driver half a tenths slower than Daruvala and nearly six-tenths slower than DAMS teammate Marcus Armstong.

The Trident duo of Marino Sato and Bent Viscaal set identical lap times but it was the Japanese driver who finished P14 after setting the time earlier than his teammate.

ART’s Theo Pourchaire had a very different afternoon compared to his teammate with the young Frenchman down in P16.

Gianluca Petecof finished the morning in P18 ahead of HWA Racelab’s Matteo Nannini who was seven-hundredths slower in P18.

Charouz’s David Beckmann and Guilherme Samaia were P19 and P20 respectively with Robert Shwartzman down in P21 and Alessio Deledda the slowest driver in the morning, over seven seconds slower than the fastest time set by Christian Lundgaard.

Afternoon

Christian Lundgaard once again proved his class in the afternoon session being the only driver to set a lap time in the 1:29’s with the Dane’s time of 1:29.827 promoting him to the top spot at the end of the afternoon session.

MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor followed in second beating Lundgaard’s teammate Theo Pourchaire to second-place by two-thousandths.

Marcus Armstrong improved on his morning performance to finish fourth in the afternoon ahead of Liam Lawson in fifth, Ralph Boschung in sixth, Lirim Zendeli in seventh and David Beckmann in eighth.

Gianluca Petecof made a stepup to 14th ahead of his Brazillian compatriot Guilherme Samaia. Marino Sato was beaten by his Trident teammate with the Japanese driver down in P16.
