FC Dallas 3-0 St. Louis City SC

FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas were known as the Dallas Burn from their inception in 1996 until 2004. At Toyota Stadium on Saturday night, FCD were wearing Dallas Burn replicas and it appeared to have a positive effect as they got just their second home win of the year defeating St. Louis, 3-0, and ending a five-match winless streak.

FC Dallas took the lead in the 24th minute as Petar Musa fed Kaick for his first goal in Major League Soccer. St. Louis almost got the equalizer early into the second half, but Eduard Löwen’s shot hit the post. That was one of fifteen shots for City, but just two were on target.

FC Dallas had ten shots on target, but made a pair of them count in the second half. Musa doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 79th minute after a deft touch got him in behind the St. Louis defense. Musa then scored from the penalty spot int he 88th minute after Sam Sarver was tripped in the area. And yes, “Disco Inferno” would be played after each goal for FC Dallas just like they did in the Dallas Burn days.

The win keeps FC Dallas in with a shout of the last playoff spot, four points adrift in 12th place. Meanwhile, St. Louis, who have now lost five of their last seven league matches, now find themselves just three points clear of last-place LA Galaxy.

The Burn…er…FC Dallas will host NYCFC on Friday night (7:30pm CT, Apple TV) while St. Louis will host Minnesota United the following night (7:30pm CT, Apple TV.
