Seattle Sounders FC 2-1 FC Dallas
SEATTLE, WA–Seattle Sounders FC extended their unbeaten run to six matches and jumped to fourth in the Western Conference with a 2-1 win over FC Dallas. FCD are now winless in four and remain in eighth place in the West.
FCD were missing striker Petar Musa, Bernard Kamungo, and Logan Farrington due to injuries, but showed a willingness to compete. However, they would be a goal behind after just 15 minutes. Jesus Ferreira’s shot deflected off a defender and past Michael Collodi for the opening score and Ferreira’s first goal of the season. Ferreira would also decline to celebrate against his former club as a mark of respect.
The Sounders doubled their lead at the half hour mark. Synder Brunell sent a brilliant thru-ball to Jordan Morris for his first goal of the league season. However, Dallas would pull one back ten minutes later as Nolan Norris headed in off a corner from Santiago Moreno.
The Sounders would get a penalty kick in the 52nd minute after Paul Rothrock went down on a challenge from Lalas Abubakar. However, Ferreira’s spot kick would be easily saved by Collodi. No worries, though, as the Sounders would hold on for the three points.
The Sounders travel to Sporting Kansas City next Saturday (11:30am PT, Apple TV/FOX) for a matinee match. FC Dallas travels to Red Bull New York next Saturday (6:30pm CT, Apple TV).
