FIFA CWC Draw, Match Schedule Set

MIAMI, FL–On Thursday, FIFA conducted the draw for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with 32 teams set to be held in the United States. Early Saturday morning, the match dates and times were released. Inter Miami, featuring Lionel Messi, will open the tournament on Saturday, June 14th, at Hard Rock Stadium against Al Ahly FC of Egypt at 8pm US Eastern time. Al Ahly FC have won the CAF Champions League three of the last four seasons.

The other American team in the field, Seattle Sounders FC, will begin their quest the next day against Copa Libertadores champions Botafogo of Brazil at Lumen Field (7pm US Pacific time). Current holders of the Club World Cup, Manchester City, open their tournament on Wednesday, June 18th in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field against Wydad AC of Morocco. Real Madrid also start that day in Miami against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

Finally, one may be asked to spare a thought for New Zealand side Auckland United, both perennials in Club World Cups and Oceania champions. They were placed in Group C with “Killer B’s”,–Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, and Benfica. They will open against Bayern Munich on June 15th for a noon kickoff at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati.

The final will be at Met Life Stadium on Sunday, July 13th at 3pm Eastern time.
