Bournemouth have held initial talks with Jack Wilshere’s representatives over a deal to bring the 29-year-old back to the club he spent a spell at in the 2016-2017 season.
The former Arsenal man has been training with the club after being released from West Ham United earlier this season and is thought to have impressed Cherries’ boss Jason Tindall after joining the team’s training sessions in recent weeks.
If the deal was to be completed it would initially be a short-term deal until the end of the season and then the situation would be reviewed with Bournemouth competing at the top of the Championship.
Wilshere made just one appearance for the Hammers before leaving the club this season – that came in the Carabao Cup against Hull City.
The 29-year-old made 27 appearances for the club during that loan spell four seasons ago and now looks set to be given another opportunity to impress.
It will be vital for midfielder to stay as fit as he possible can if the deal is to be completed because he has been let down by injury set backs all throughout his career and will be desperate to get a break in what should be the best years of his career.
