FOXBOROUGH, MA — Tthe New England Revolution have loaned midfielder Eric Klein to USL Championship side Rhode Island FC through the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season.
The loan opens both a supplemental roster slot, creating additional roster flexibility as the club continues to navigate the secondary transfer window.

Eric Klein is a 19-year-old, 6’0, 165lb, midfielder from Manheim, Pennsylvania.
After joining the Revolution Academy in 2023, Klein quickly worked his way through the club’s development pathway, making his professional debut with New England Revolution II in July while also helping the U-19 side capture its second consecutive MLS NEXT Cup title.
Klein thrived during his first full season with Revolution II in 2024, leading the team with 23 starts and 2,215 minutes played. His breakout campaign earned him 2024 Revolution Academy Player of the Year honors and eventually paved the way for his first-team contract. On May 23, 2025, Klein signed with the Revolution as the 15th Homegrown Player in club history. He has since made 7 appearances with the Revolution first team.
Across his club career in the United States, Klein has made 57 appearances and logged 4,207 minutes across all competitions. During that span, he has recorded one goal and six assists while receiving eight yellow cards.
On the international stage, Klein has made two appearances across four call-ups with the United States Youth National Team.

On Friday, August 14, 2026, the New England Revolution had announced that New England had loaned Klein to Rhode Island FC for the remainder of the season.
Klein, 19, has spent the majority of his professional career developing with New England Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro while also making first-team appearances for the Revolution in Major League Soccer and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The U.S. Youth International and 2024 Revolution Academy Player of the Year brings talent and experience to RIFC at a young age after spending the first two-and-a-half seasons of his professional career with New England.
Klein will be available for selection this week agains the Tampa Bay Rowdies & will have a great opportunity in the USL Championship to continue his development against stronger competition.
The loan with Rhode Island FC runs through the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season.
