New England Revolution acquire forward Ignatius Ganago on loan from FC Nantes

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have acquired forward Ignatius Ganago in a 12-month loan deal from Ligue 1 side FC Nantes.

Ganago will occupy a senior roster slot & an international roster slot.

Ignatius Ganago is a 25-year-old, 5’9, 161lb forward from Douala, Cameroon.

At the club level, Ganago has played 322 career games (8,813 minutes) across France. Ganago began his career with OGC Nice (2017-20). In July of 2020, Ganago left OGC Nice and joined newly promoted Ligue 1 side Racing Club de Lens (2020-22). In September of 2022, Ganago joined FC Nantes (2022-present) on a four-year contract for a $3,500,000+ fee excluding bonuses.

In total club numbers, the forward has contributed 35 career goals, 10 assists, along with 7 yellow cards and 0 red cards.

Internationally, Ganago has made 14 senior appearances (558 minutes) for the Cameroon Men’s National Team.

In international numbers, the forward has 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 yellow card & 0 red cards.

On December 19th, 2024, L’Equipe had reported that the New England Revolution were interested in acquiring the Cameroonian forward from FC Nantes.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri was the first to confirm the reports and confirm the deal.

Tom Bogert of GiveMeSport & Seth Macomber of The Blazing Musket also confirmed the reports.

Ganago passed his medical tests on Thursday and is set to join New England ahead of their preseason in Miami, Florida.

The deal is a 6-month loan deal with an additional option to extend the loan deal for an additional 6-months. A purchase option is attached to the loan deal.

The deal is valued at $4,500,000 including bonuses.

Included in the deal is an automatic trigger clause, valued at $3,500,000 IF Ganago appears in more than 60% of New England’s matches.
