Inform Blackburn Rovers take on a resurgent Hull City aiming to continue their winning streak

Hull City supporters will be looking forwards to an appetising game at the MKM Stadium as they take on high-flyers Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

On the back of two outstanding away performances, The Tigers will be hoping to bring further smiles back to the Humberside faithful following an ultimately disappointing start to the season.

Andy Dawson’s men had put their recent 2-0 home defeat to Birmingham City behind them in some fashion as they put Blackpool and Rotherham to the sword. Scoring seven goals away from home and picking up a much-needed six points, performances have offered greater hope to supporters that there is plenty still to come with players returning from injury.

With optimism renewed under Dawson, he has been around the game for far too long to get carried away despite the returning feel-good factor around the club.

“We know what’s expected individually and collectively. We’ve worked really hard this week. The group are full of confidence after the last two results but we have to keep them prepared mentally because s soon as you pull off anything in this league, it can get undone need. We’ve worked really hard this week. We’ve done a lot of tactical work, a lot of physical work and we seem ready and in a positive friend of mind to go and attack the game.”

City will be expecting a bumper crowd on Saturday and that may well have been boosted further by a successful supporter engagement session this week. The club hosted a live training session during the half-term holidays which brought players and younger fans together as owner Acun Ilicali continues to build on the importance of the club’s role within the community.

“It was really good for the boys sort of to win with all the fans, and it was great for the fans to see the players do what they do on a regular daily basis. I thought it was a really good day. I think the sign-in after saw kids that had waited for a long time to come and get the signatures with their favourite players. I think that’s part of bringing the family together. So really pleased.”

Blackburn Rovers will be chomping at the bit to continue their run of good form following three successive victories against Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Birmingham City.

With ten wins already on the board, Rovers have had an excellent start to the campaign but their away form is an area which they will be looking to improve upon. After 17 games, there appears to be little in between with Rovers yet to register a draw, having lost seven so far. Despite their successes at Ewood Park, coach Jon Dahl Tomasson is refusing to get ahead of himself. Speaking to Lancashire Telegraph, the Dane is very much still at the beginning of his learning journey with his team.

“I’m looking more at the performances than the results. We’re working on this project, and I understand it’s easier when you win games, but I’m looking more at what I want to see, is it going in the right direction, slowly it’s going in the right direction.

“Is it good enough? Not at all for where I want to be. This is a journey, of course we’re very ambitious, we have ambition but are also very patient. That’s why I’m always looking at the performance and getting towards the Rovers team that I dream about.”

Travelling across to Humberside on Saturday, Tomasson is expecting a difficult game having seen with his own eyes, the level of performance that City have risen to in their last two outings.

“They are in a good place, I saw them live against Blackpool, they had a good win against Rotherham. I think they’ve been playing well. It’s been back-to-back wins for them which gives them confidence. We’ve won three games in a row so we’re going there with confidence as well.

“Each game we go into we want to have a good result and a good performance and to win the game like when we go to Coventry on Tuesday. It’ll be an interesting game but one we’re looking forward to.”

In team news, City are set to be without Callum Elder once more but Rovers have heavier injury concerns with Callum Brittain, Ryan Hedges and centre-back Ash Phillips all out. Daniel Ayala will return to the matchday squad.
