Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur are yet to reach the midway point of the season as the two sides go head-to-head at the King Power Stadium

Amid the increasingly regular postponement of fixtures in the Premier League, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur meet at the King Power Stadium with both sides having played just 18 league games.

The visitors will be looking to continue their strong form in the top-flight under Antonio Conte and close the gap on the top four.

Spurs are unbeaten under the Italian in the Premier League but have not played a league fixture since their dramatic 1-0 win at Watford on New Year’s Day.

As for the Foxes, it has been three weeks since their last league game, an impressive 1-0 home win over Liverpool.

However, the campaign as a whole has been below par for Brendan Rodgers’ side who are sat in 10th and were eliminated from the Europa League last month. They do, however, have three games in hand on ninth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion and are eight points behind their visitors who sit sixth.

That is because of numerous fixtures being postponed, something that has started to become a tedious regularity.

Granted, players cannot play if they test positive for COVID-19, however, injuries are not, and never have been, a reason to put a fixture on hold.

The two teams come into the fixture having not played their weekend fixtures, although the hosts will be arguably fresher after their 4-1 FA Cup success against Watford over a week ago. Spurs, meanwhile, were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea, losing their second-leg 1-0 last Wednesday.

After the elimination from the Carabao Cup, an FA Cup triumph is the North London side’s only other route to European qualification and league form over the coming weeks will be particularly crucial in order for Spurs to keep breathing down the necks of the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal.

Leicester could see a handful of players return from respective spells on the sidelines, most notably right-back James Justin, who has missed 11 months of action after suffering an ACL injury.

Luke Thomas, Caglar Soyuncu, Patson Daka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Boubakary Soumare could all be in the squad.

As for Tottenham, Heung-Min Son remains sidelined as does Christian Romero whilst Steven Bergwijn could feature despite heavy interest from Ajax.
