Mansfield Town face a real test of resilience and character as they face the impressive Sutton United at Gander Green Lane.

After a very important three points against bottom of the league Scunthorpe United, the amber and blues have built fantastic momentum and will look to extend their unbeaten run in South London.

The Iron started the game better say they got themselves a penalty which was won and converted by Myles Hippolyte in the 15th minute.

However, the Stags responded fantastically with two goals before the half-time interval. Ollie Clarke scored the equaliser before Jordan Bowery’s goal in added time gave Mansfield the lead.

Skipper Clarke made it 3-1 for the hosts on the half-hour mark as Nigel Clough’s men rose to 17th, six points away from the play-off places and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The Nottinghamshire club were able to pick up another valuable three points as they continue their fantastic form. However, securing a win in their next match won’t be a simple task.

Sutton United were promoted into the Football League for the first time in the club’s history after winning the National League last season.

Matt Gray’s men have had a fantastic start to life in the fourth tier with the U’s sat in ninth place, only outside the play-off places on goal difference.

The newly-promoted side were blown away last time out as they were heavily beaten in the capital by Leyton Orient.

They started the game brilliantly with a goal through Issac Olaofe in the 18th minute, however, the game was flipped on its head on the half-hour mark.

Orient scored the equaliser through Theo Archibald as the two sides headed into the half-time interval level. Three goals in the second half through a Harry Smith brace and a Thomas Smith stoppage time effort saw the O’s continue their impressive unbeaten run.

For Sutton, their last five games have seen them fall to three defeats with the loss against Leyton Orient the heaviest since arriving in the EFL.

It will be important for the Stags to continue their run of form and have a perfect start against a new opposition that they’ve never faced before.

With a tough week’s worth of travel, Nigel Clough will also be hoping that no one picks up an injury with Rhys Oates, George Lapslie and Danny Johnson currently on the treatment table.

Sutton United and Matt Gray are on a bit of a downwards spiral after a good start to the season, however, the U’s will be back on home soil and hoping they can pick up their first home league win since October 9th when they beat Port Vale 4-3.
