Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined Luton Town on a season-long loan deal in October after signing a new four-year contract with Leicester City and the Hatters have seen impressive performances from the 22-year-old.
He is yet to make a Premier League appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side but has featured once in the FA Cup and it’s thought that the Northern Irishman is a keen admirer of the youngster.
The 22-year-old joined the Leicester academy all the way back 2006 at the age of eight and he moved his way through the ranks before signing his first professional contract in 2017 and in 2019 was named the development player of the year.
The midfielder has been brilliant since his move to Kenilworth Road and has scored two goals in his past three matches which helped to contribute to wins over Bristol City and AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.
He has featured on 18 occasions so far this term for the Hatters and is continuing to prove himself to be a top class player and one who looks at home in the Championship having only previously played in League One.
Dewsbury Hall also spent time out in the EFL last season in a spell at Blackpool two days after making his Foxes debut where he scored four goals in ten appearances before coming back to the King Power Stadium.
It is understood that Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers was looking at recalling the player with a number of other Championship clubs keen on taking the player and this something Luton boss Nathan Jones addressed after the Bournemouth’ win.
“Brendan knows he’s in a real good place and we’re very proud that they trust him with us and for us to bring a loan in with the amount of research we do, it’s quite frightening.
He’s a wonderful player doing superbly well and we will send him back to Leicester a better player, a grown man and it’s the right thing to leave him here and I’m sure Brendan knows that.
“We are delighted because quite often you don’t see that so we’re really thankful to Leicester.”
The Bedfordshire club have been very inconsistent this season, which was underlined by a 2-0 defeat to QPR the game before the Bournemouth success, but do only lie seven points behind the play-off places heading into the second half of the season.
Dewsbury-Hall is still developing but the problem he has when he does return to Leicester is that the Midlands club are having another incredible season and the form in particular of Harvey Barnes has been srong.
He himself had a loan in the Championship last season at West Brom which was cut short in January and ever since has been superb for Rodgers’ team who plays in a similar position so that will make it tricky for the 22-year-old to break through regardless of how well he continues to perform at the Hatters.
Despite this, he is getting to test himself against the very best every week and this will be the case on Wednesday evening when Jones’ side face another side chasing promotion in the form of Brentford who have won four of their last five in the Championship.
The Luton loanee has impressed but to make more people continue to stand up and take note he has to be more consistent in terms of goal involvement, he has supplied two goals and two assists in the opening half of the season and these will need to be improved upon between now and the end of the season.
Jones’ side have an outside chance of getting into the play off places come the end of the season and you get the sense that keeping the Leicester star at his best will go a long way to helping them get close to achieving this.
