160 clubs await Friday’s FA Cup draw including two Step 6 sides

The draw for the 2nd Qualification Round of the 2020/21 FA Cup will be eagerly anticipated in non league circles.

43 clubs from Step 6 will join the 117 winners from the First Qualifying round.

The games are set to be played in the first week of October. This round contains two teams from Step 6, Risborough Rangers and Saltash United.

The following clubs have reached this stage for the first time in their history:

Bedfont Sports (10th campaign), Hanley Town (6th campaign), Sheppey United (5th campaign), Risborough Rangers (3rd campaign), Ilkeston Town, Longridge Town, Warrington Rylands (all in their 2nd campaign), Hashtag United, Newark who are both in their first campaign.

It’s the first appearance for Saltash in 29 years and only five years fewer for Melksham who avenged a previous elimination at the hands of Highworth Town.

The Cornishmen from Saltash provided  one of the bigger shocks when the Step 6 side beat Cirencester from Step 4 3-1.

Potential Draw Highlights:

Fans will be looking for the fates of the Step 6 sides to see if either can survive to the next round and make a little more history.

Cray Valley and Cray Wanderers both progressed and that would make for a great derby even though Valley currently play in Eltham and Wanderers, who claim to be the world’s second oldest football club, use Bromley F.C’s Hayes Lane as their base.

Saltash might be eyeing a Cornish derby with Truro City. If Sholing FC draw Moneyfields, that would be a Portsmouth/Southampton derby with all that entails.

In Lancashire, Runcorn Linnets FC (Northern Premier League Division One North West) are denied a match with Runcorn Town wheo were eliminated by Lancaster on penalties.

Warrington Rylands (North West Counties League Premier Division) cannot meet Warrington Town for the same reason but Runcorn Linnets and Warrington are within ten miles of each other.

There are too many loval derbies to plough through them all but by Friday evening we will know and we will also know where our site is heading as we follow our selection in their quest in out Moneyfields to Wembley series.
