A heavyweight battle sets up as Borussia Dortmund host Barcelona in the Champions League

Two heavyweights will collide in the second fixture of Group F as Borussia Dortmund face Barcelona in both teams first game of the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund have the home advantage and are also on fine form winning four of their last five matches in all competitions.

Barcelona have had an alright start to the season, but are still bonding as team with the new additions to the side looking to get used to Barcelona’s style of play quickly.

Team news

Dortmund will be without Nico Schulz who is injured.

The only injury to report on from Barcelona is Lionel Messi. The Argentine magician may play against Dortmund but it is still uncertain whether he will play a part in this fixture.

Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen spoke about the importance of tomorrow’s game.

“It’s always difficult to play in Dortmund. I experienced that from my time in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchenglabach.

“Paco’s decision to join BVB was the right one. He’s in great form at the moment.

“I know Favre quite well, he gave me my first chance and is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had!”

Lucien Favre spoke about injuries and about being happy to play against Barcelona in the Champions League.

“We are happy to play against FC Barcelona. I had a feeling before the draw that we would face them.

“We have to wait for training today to see if Piszczek is ready. Nico Schulz will not be able to play.”

These two teams have met twice before with Barcelona winning one game and drawing the other in the UEFA Super Cup in 1998 with the Catalan club advancing with a 3-1 aggregate win.
