Both Burnley and Brighton will be hoping to grab just their second win of the campaign so far, as they clash at the AMEX stadium this weekend.
Graham Potter started life at the Seagulls with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Watford, but since the opening day their only other victory came against League One side Bristol Rovers in the League Cup.
Burnley also have just the one league win, also a 3-0 victory on the opening day, over Southampton. But Sean Dyche also saw his side crash out of the League Cup to League One opposition as Sunderland ran out 3-1 winners at Turf Moor.
Team news
Jose Izquierdo remains absent with a knee injury, whilst Belgian international Leandro Trossard and Yves Bissouma are also out of this game with minor injuries. Full back Ezequiel Schelotto may return to the fold this weekend after some time on the treatment table.
Ashley Barnes, Dwight McNeil and Jon Gudmundsson all look set to at least be part of the squad after suffering minor knocks prior to the international break, long term absentee Robbie Brady could also feature after returning to full training recently and staying at the club over the break.
Graham Potter
Potter gave a detailed update on Trossard, who has already become a fan favourite;
“He just had a feeling in his groin.
“We don’t think it is as bad as initially he thought.
“He is obviously not going to be available for the weekend and the other side of the next international break is probably what we are aiming for now.
“At this early stage, it’s hard to put too much more of a timescale on it.”
Sean Dyche
Danny Drinkwater is also set to miss out after getting involved in an incident on a night out, speaking on the player, Dyche said;
“The big picture is he is a 29-year-old footballer and nobody wants to get into this situation. He knows that. On the other side, he is a human being and we have all been involved in not so good times.”
Head-to-head
Brighton have failed to beat Burnley since both clubs played in the second tier in 2013, when the Seagulls did the double over their opponents. Burnley have since won just two of the next seven meetings though, both coming last campaign.
These sides have met 33 times in all, with Brighton taking 10 wins, Burnley 11, leaving 12 stalemates having been played out.
