England unchanged for winter tour

England will take an unchanged 16-man squad to the West Indies for a three-Test series starting next month.

The Three Lions beat Sri Lanka 3-0 last month with a squad that gave debuts to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes and opener Rory Burns.

Sam Curran, Liam Dawson and Olly Stone have all been left out of the squad, but David Willey will return for the five-match one-day series starting in February.

Stone made his ODI debut in Sri Lanka, taking one wicket in three innings, and remains in the Test squad with Sam Curran. The younger of the Curran brothers has scored 404 runs and taken 14 wickets in his first seven matches for the national side.

England have won only one Test series match in the West Indies since 1968, when Michael Vaughan’s team sealed a 3-0 win in 2004; however, the team will take confidence from their recent whitewash win over Sri Lanka.

The most recent tour to the West Indies saw the hosts win the final match by five wickets to draw the series at 1-1 back in 2015.

England will have one six one-day internationals after the West Indies before the World Cup gets underway in May.
