World Cup set on fire in second round of games

I was having a bar conversation with a knowledgeable friend of mine early Saturday who observed that the World Cup had been mundane so far. Further knowledge juice revealed that he actually meant that the first 16 games, in which every nation took to the field for the first time, hadn’t thrown up a riot, an over zealous referee reducing the game to 9-a-side, a violent assault, any hooliganism or worst of all terrorist attacks.

There had also been a dearth of any fantastic football.
