The USA overcame the first half loss of defender Carlos Bocanegra to draw 2-2 with Russia in a friendly in Krasnodar.

Equalisers from Michael Bradley in the 76th minute and Mikael Diskerud negated an early opening goal from Fyodor Smolov and a late penalty from Zenit’s Roman Shirokov.

Rosenborg’s Diskerud had been on the field for all of three minutes after replacing Geoff Cameron, before securing a draw for the Americans in injury time.

In total 17 Americans were given playing time by coach Klinsmann with Fabian Johnson. Tim Chandler, Jermaine Jones and Michael Bradley the only outfielders to play the whole game.
