Revolution II fall 5-3 to Crown Legacy FC

FOXBOROUGH, MA— The New England Revolution II (4-2-8, 16 pts.) were defeated 5-3 versus Crown Legacy FC (5-3-5, 20 pts.). on Sunday afternoon.

The match was set for a 6:00 p.m. ET kickoff but was delayed until a 7:30 p.m. ET Kickoff. The match took place at Oullette Stadium in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

The team started their lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with goalkeeper JD Gunn starting in the net with a backline of (left back) Moshtaba Al-Hasnawi, (center backs) Eric Klein and Santiago Suarez, along with (right back) Damario McIntosh. The midfield consisted of Luka Borovic (left), Lucas Maciel (center), and Olger Escobar (right). The forward roles were manned by Gevork Diarbian (left), Alex Monis (right), and Patrick Leal (central) as the lone striker.

First team player Santiago Suarez started the match while Malcolm Fry and Joshua Bolma began the match on the bench.

The match kicked off with New England starting from the center circle and immediately launching the ball into Crown Legacy’s defensive third.

Entering the 4th minute, Crown Legacy took the 1-0 lead.

Following a foul atop the penalty area, midfielder #48 Aron John stepped up and unleashed a right-footed freekick into the upper left of the net past JD Gunn for his 5th goal of the season.

Crown Legacy’s next chance came in the 8th minute when forward #40 Jahlane Forbes’ delivery into the area toward forward #60 Cameron Duke was met with a scorpion kick and cleared.

Entering the 14th minute, Crown Legacy took the 2-0 lead.

Following a cross into the area by forward #40 Brian Romero, the ball fell through the box to find defender #44 Julian Bravo for the left-footed volley into the back of the net.

New England’s first chance came in the 16th minute when Luka Borovic’s chance was blocked away and cleared.

Entering the 24th minute, Crown Legacy added to their lead once again.

Following a cross into the area by #41 Brian Romero, the ball was collected centrally by forward #40 Jahlane Forbes, whose initial shot was blocked, but the rebound fell kindly for a second effort so that he could secure his first goal of the season.

Entering the 30th minute, Crown Legacy added to their lead once again.

Following a poor giveaway by Damario McIntosh, forward #68 Dylan Sing unleashed a right-footed strike into the bottom right corner that left JD Gunn standing still.

Entering the 38th minute, Crown Legacy added to their lead once again.

Following a shot by forward #68 Dylan Sing that was saved by goalkeeper JD Gunn, the rebound fell for an unmarked #40 Jahlane Forbes for his second goal of the match.

New England’s first major chance came in the 42nd minute when Alex Monis’ long-distance effort was parried away by goalkeeper #51 Nicholas Holiday.

In the 45+1 minute, Revolution head coach Richie Williams was forced to make his first change of the match due to injury. Forward Luka Borovic was replaced by Malcolm Fry.

After the initial 45+3 minutes, the match entered halftime with New England trailing 5-0.

The second half kicked off with Crown Legacy starting from the center circle and immediately launching the ball into New England’s defensive third.

Crown Legacy’s first moment of the half came in the 46th minute when their corner kick delivery was cleared by Santiago Suarez.

New England’s first chance came in the 50th minute when Alex Monis delivery into the area was cleared. The play continued and a back post ball back toward Monis was cleared for a corner kick that eventually led to nothing.

Their next chance came in the 57th minute when Olger Escobar’s chance went high over the net.

In the 61st minute, Crown Legacy head coach José Tavares made his first change of the match by replacing midfielder #41 Brian Romero with forward #97 Jonathan Nyandjo.

Entering the 63rd minute, New England pulled one back.

Following a short corner kick delivery by Gevork Diarbian and Patrick Leal, the ball was sent centrally to find the head of Alex Monis to pull one back for New England.

Crown Legacy’s next chance came in the 65th minute when #68 Dylan Sing put the ball into the net. However, goalkeeper interference was called, and the goal was chalked off.

In the 67th minute, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his second and third changes of the match by replacing midfielders Olger Escobar and Gevork Diarbian and replacing them with Joshua Bolma and Joshua Partal. This is 17-year-old Joshua Partal’s professional debut.

In the 74th minute, Crown Legacy head coach José Tavares made his second and third change of the match by replacing midfielders #40  Jahlane Forbes and #48 Aron John with midfielder #86 Filip Mirkovic and forward #71 Josué Rodrigues da Conceição.

In the 77th minute, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his fourth change of the match by replacing forward Patrick Leal for Marcos Dias.

New England’s next chance came moments later when Malcolm Fry’s effort was saved away by goalkeeper #58 Nicholas Holiday.

Just moments later, Revolution midfielder Lucas Maciel was issued a yellow card.

In the 81st minute, Crown Legacy defender #39 Jack Neeley was issued a straight red card for denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity on Joshua Bolma. Crown Legacy would play the remaining 9 minutes plus stoppage time with 10-men. The ensuing freekick was met with a fantastic save by goalkeeper #58 Nicholas Holiday.

Entering the 82nd minute, New England pulled yet another goal back.

Following a corner kick delivery by Joshua Bolma, the ball was headed home by Santiago Suarez for his first career goal. There was a scuffle following the goal as they attempted to retrieve the ball. No cards were handed out.

Entering the 86th minute, New England pulled yet another goal back.

Following yet another corner kick delivery by Joshua Bolma, he found Lucas Maciel, who then found Eric Klein. He then had nice footwork in the area and attempted a shot when he was shoved down in the box. His scuffed shot attempt found Alex Monis, who tapped home his second of the night to make it 5-3.

In the 89th minute, Crown Legacy midfielder #86 Filip Mirkovic was issued a yellow card for time wasting.

New England’s last major chance came in the 90+2 minute when Joshua Bolma was denied by goalkeeper #58 Nicholas Holiday.

After the 90+5 minutes, the match concluded with Crown Legacy holding on for a 5-3 victory.

With the result, New England move to 11th in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Standings.

Richie Williams and the New England Revolution II (4-2-8, 16 pts.) are on the road to face Eastern Conference side FC Cincinnati II (9-1-4, 28 pts.).
