Inter Milan issued a statement confirming Matteo Politano will be joining Serie A rivals Napoli with an obligation to buy.
“FC Internazionale Milano announces that Matteo Politano has joined Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli. The 26-year-old, who scored six goals in 63 appearances for Inter after arriving in the summer of 2018, has joined the Partenopei on an initial two-year loan deal, with there being an obligation to buy thereafter.”
The Italian was close to joining Roma after not finding a regular place under Inter manager Antonio Conte.
The 26-year-old ended up joining Gennarro Gattuso’s brigade for a €23-25m fee as claimed by multiple reports in Italy.
According to rumours, Inter are looking for a striker specially after Gabriel Barbosa’s move to Flamengo has been made permanent. Napoli striker Fernando Llorente was about to be in a swap deal for Politano but the Spanish will remain with Gli Azzurri.
That means that it is very likely that Inter will be working very hard in the small time left in the window to bring their other target; Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea recently.
As per Sky Sports ”Antonio Conte has requested to revive their efforts to sign Giroud, who had already agreed personal terms with the club in a two-and-a-half-year deal.”
