FCD goes second after defeat of LAFC

FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas’s run continues as they defeated LAFC, 1-0, at Toyota Stadium. Dallas are now 6-1-2 in their last nine league matches and are now second in the Western Conference, three points behind Vancouver for top spot. LAFC have gone the opposite direction having won just one in their last ten league matches (1-4-5) and have dropped to sixth in the West.

Both teams were missing main players to international duty: Petar Musa (Croatia) and Bernard Kamungo (Tanzania) for Dallas and Son Heung-min (South Korea) and Denis Bouanga (Gabon) for LAFC among others.

The game’s only goal came in the 34th minute off a corner kick. Osaze Urhoghide rose above everyone to head in Joaquin Valiente’s corner to give FC Dallas the lead.

Both teams had goals disallowed in the second half. Logan Farrington was offside as he got in behind the defense, and Armindo Sieb’s goal for LAFC was chalked off by VAR for a foul in the buildup.

Both teams are back in action in two weeks’ time. FC Dallas travel to Charlotte (6:30pm CT, Apple TV), while LAFC will look to return to winning ways at home to Vancouver (7:30pm PT, Apple TV).
