FOXBOROUGH, MA –New England Revolution (11-4-8, 37 pts.) were defeated 2-1 versus Los Angeles Galaxy (7-8-9 30 pts.) on Saturday evening.
The match kicked off at 9:30 p.m. ET at Dignity Health Sports Park to a crowd of 20,000.

Los Angeles opened the match on the front foot, quickly advancing the ball and applying pressure in New England’s defensive third.
Jack Harrison created the first opportunity in the eighth minute, but his left-footed effort from the right side of the penalty area sailed over the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Los Angeles was awarded a penalty after Revolution defender Will Sands brought down Kyogo Furuhashi inside the box. Sands received a yellow card for the challenge.

Midfielder Marco Reus stepped up and converted the ensuing penalty, sending goalkeeper Matt Turner the wrong way to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.
Dor Turgeman generated the next two chances in the 18th and 19th minutes. His left-footed shot from inside the box missed to the right before his close-range header also went wide of the right post.
Less than two minutes later, Peyton Miller fired a left-footed effort from inside the box narrowly wide of the left post.
Carles Gil produced New England’s best chance of the half in the 23rd minute, when his left-footed strike from outside the box was tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski.
Jakob Glesnes threatened for Los Angeles in the 28th minute, but his header from a Reus corner kick was blocked and cleared.
Less than a minute later, Turgeman received another opportunity from six yards out, but his effort was blocked and cleared.

Midfielder Marco Reus drove into the penalty area before playing the ball wide to Hirving Lozano, who delivered a perfectly placed pass across goal for Robert Taylor to finish and extend Los Angeles’ lead.
Jack Harrison had the next chance of the half in the 36th minute, but his left-footed effort sailed over the crossbar.
New England continued to threaten in the 41st minute. Will Sands had an effort blocked before Carles Gil’s strike from the top of the penalty area was denied by a diving save from goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski.
Revolution midfielder Harrison was shown a yellow card in the 44th minute for a foul on Julián Aude.
Los Angeles created two more opportunities in first-half stoppage time, but efforts from Marco Reus and Aude were both blocked and cleared.
Ethan Kohler generated New England’s final chance of the half in the third minute of stoppage time, sending a header into the arms of Marcinkowski.
After five minutes of stoppage time, Los Angeles entered halftime with a 2-0 lead.

New England opened the second half on the front foot, quickly advancing the ball and applying pressure in the Galaxy’s defensive third.
The Revolution created three opportunities in the 46th minute. Jack Harrison’s effort from inside the penalty area was saved by JT Marcinkowski before the goalkeeper denied Dor Turgeman twice in quick succession less than a minute later.
Harrison threatened again in the 56th minute, sending a left-footed strike from outside the box over the crossbar.
LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney made his first two substitutions moments later, replacing Sergi Roberto and Erik Thommy with Pablo Ruiz and Lucas Sanabria.
In the 58th minute, LA Galaxy defender Harbor Miller was shown a yellow card for delaying the restart while taking a throw-in.
Peyton Miller generated New England’s next opportunity two minutes later, meeting a lofted pass from Harrison with an effort that deflected off Turgeman and was collected by Marcinkowski.
In the 62nd minute, LA Galaxy forward Hirving Lozano received a yellow card for fouling Jack Harrison.

New England had a golden opportunity to pull a goal back in the 66th minute, but Alhassan Yusuf’s curling effort from outside the box struck the right post.
Less than a minute later, Peyton Miller came close from the right side of the box, but his left-footed effort struck the left post.
In the 72nd minute, LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney made two more substitutions, replacing Robert Taylor and Kyogo Furuhashi with Joseph Paintsil and Isaiah Parente.
Two minutes later, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first substitution of the match, bringing on Dániel Gazdag for Will Sands.
In the 76th minute, Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Joseph Paintsil.
Dor Turgeman created New England’s next opportunity in the 78th minute, but his right-footed shot from outside the box curled narrowly wide of the left post.
Following the effort, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his second substitution of the match, replacing Turgeman with Wilson Harris.

In the 82nd minute, LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney made his final substitution of the match, replacing Hirving Lozano with Troy Elgersma.
Two minutes later, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his third and fourth substitutions, bringing on Luca Langoni and Ilay Feingold for Matt Polster and Alhassan Yusuf.
Jakob Glesnes had the next opportunity for the LA Galaxy in the 87th minute, sending his long-range free kick over the crossbar.
Luca Langoni threatened in the 90th minute, forcing goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski to save his right-footed effort.
New England threatened again in the second minute of stoppage time when Jack Harrison delivered a ball toward the back post that Mamadou Fofana met first-time, sending his effort into the side netting.
Harbor Miller had another opportunity for the LA Galaxy in the third minute of stoppage time, but his right-footed shot from a tight angle was pushed behind for a corner by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

After 90 minutes and five minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle confirmed a 2-1 victory for the LA Galaxy over New England.
