Seattle Sounders FC 3-0 Queretaro
SEATTLE, WA–Seattle Sounders FC put an end to their seven-match losing streak in all competitions with a 3-0 win on a Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field. While the win is unlikely to help the Sounders advance in Leagues Cup–in which they are the current holders–it was a much needed confidence boost.
The Sounders needed just four minutes to get going and it was a true team goal finished off as Paul Rothrock’s cross was put in by Sebastian Gomez who was making his first first-team start and got his first first-team goal. The Sounders would then double their lead four minutes from halftime. Rothrock got on the end of a thru-ball and then fed Danny Musovski for an easy finish.
The third goal in the 68th minute was also a team goal. Musovski sent a low cross into the box and Gomez would lay off for Albert Rusnak to finish to make it 3-0.
The loss eliminates Queretaro from Leagues Cup play as they sit bottom of the Liga MX Leagues Cup table. They will finish Leagues Cup play against LAFC on Wednesday (7:30pm PT, Apple TV), while the Sounders will face Chivas de Guadalajara on Wednesday at Lumen Field (7:30pm PT, Apple TV).
