FOXBOROUGH, MA – New England Revolution (7-1-4, 22 pts.) were defeated 3-0 versus Nashville SC (8-3-1, 27 pts.) on Wednesday night.

The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 18,561.

The match kicked off with Nashville SC passing the ball back from the center circle as they sent the ball into New England’s defensive third.

New England had the first chance of the match in the 10th minute when defender Ethan Kohler headed midfielder Matt Polster’s cross toward goal, but the attempt was cleared away.

Matt Polster recorded New England’s second shot of the match in the 17th minute when his right-footed effort was deflected and cleared away.

Hany Mukhtar had a massive chance in the 20th minute when he met a cut-back pass from Cristian Espinoza, but his effort was deflected away for a corner kick.

In the 22nd minute, Nashville SC defender Andy Najar was shown a yellow card for fouling defender Peyton Miller just outside the penalty area.

New England’s next chance came in the 29th minute, when a high-arching corner kick was headed on by defender Mamadou Fofana toward Ethan Kohler, whose header on goal was comfortably claimed by goalkeeper Patrick Schwake.

Entering the 33rd minute, Nashville SC took the lead.

Midfielder Cristian Espinoza beat midfielder Matt Polster in a one-versus-one situation before playing a cutback pass to midfielder Bryan Acosta, who slotted a simple finish into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

In the 39th minute, Nashville SC midfielder Matthew Corcoran was issued a yellow card for persistent fouling of midfielder Carles Gil.

Entering the 40th minute, Nashville added to their lead.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner misplayed the ball directly to winger Warren Madrigal for a simple finish to make it 2-0 to Nashville.

After the initial 45+3 minutes, the match entered halftime with Nashville ahead 2-0.

The second half kicked off with New England controlling possession from the center circle and working the ball through midfield.

Just three minutes into the second half, Nashville SC head coach BJ Callaghan was forced to make his first change, replacing defender Andy Najar with defender Daniel Lovitz.

New England had the first major chance of the half in the 53rd minute when a chipped free kick into the penalty area was deflected away for a corner kick.

Two minutes later, Revolution midfielder Brooklyn Raines was issued a yellow card for fouling Cristian Espinoza close to midfield.

Midfielder Matt Polster had New England’s next chance in the 62nd minute when he chested down a cross and unleashed a volley that snuck wide of the left post.

New England got extremely lucky just one minute later when a cross by Cristian Espinoza was deflected by defender Ethan Kohler onto his own crossbar and out for a corner kick.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner made a goal-stopping save in the 66th minute, denying Ahmed Qasem from the left side of the box with a shot toward the near post.

In the 67th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first change of the match by replacing midfielder Matt Polster with winger Diego Fagundez.

Midfielder Diego Fagundez had his first effort toward goal just three minutes later when his half-volley attempt was blocked away and cleared.

Entering the 74th minute, Nashville added to their lead.

Cristian Espinoza’s corner kick delivery went straight to the top of the box for midfielder Bryan Acosta, who was left wide open for a simple finish to make it 3-0.

Following the goal, both teams made changes. Nashville head coach BJ Callaghan replaced midfielders Ahmed Qasem & Matthew Corcoran with midfielders Charles Brunet & Alex Muyl. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović replaced forwards Dor Turgeman & Griffin Yow with forwards Malcolm Fry & Marcos Zambrano.

In the 82nd minute, Nashville SC defender Daniel Lovitz was issued a yellow card for time wasting.

Just two minutes later, both teams made changes. Nashville head coach BJ Callaghan replaced midfielders Hany Mukhtar & Reed Baker-Whiting with midfielders Jack Bauer & Woobens Pacius. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović replaced midfielders Carles Gil & Eric Klein with midfielders Jackson Yueill & Eric Klein.

Jackson Yueill had the next chance in the 87th minute when his long-distance left-footed shot was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Patrick Schwake.

In the 89th minute, Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf was issued a yellow card for persistent infringement and for kicking the ball away after the foul.

After the 90+5 minutes, the match concluded with Nashville SC holding on for the comfortable 3-0 win.
