Peninsula Elementary School (K-8) was full of green and gold tee shirts and excited chatter as students wearing new Portland Timbers gear filled the gym. The Timbers held a press conference this morning to announce their new front of kit sponsor, followed by a soccer clinic for the kids with head coach Phil Neville, Timbers’ legend Diego Valeri, and goalkeeper Trey Muse.

Jake Zivin hosted the event with Timbers’ owner Merritt Paulson and Bank of America’s Oregon and Southwest Washington president, Roger Hinshaw both speaking. Paulson highlighted the investment, not only in the team, but in the city as a whole. This city, the fan base, the community partnership, and the potential for growth were all reasons Hinshaw and B of A chose the Timbers. The Timbers will be continuing their partnership with Tillamook as a sleeve sponsor.
The multi deal partnership with Bank of America is the first jersey sponsor for the bank despite being the official sponsor of FIFA World Cup 26 and U.S. Soccer. “We’re proud to welcome Bank of America to the Timbers family, and together we are committed to making meaningful impact in our community,” said Heather Davis, CEO of the Portland Timbers. “Bank of America’s investment goes beyond the Timbers; it’s an investment in the city of Portland. This partnership will provide valuable resources and opportunities for youth in sports, local small businesses, public schools and more.”

They will also be rolling out economic programs aimed at strengthening economic opportunities throughout the region. These include, “First Match Access Pass” giving 100 tickets per match to first time attendants, “Small Businesses of the Game” platform that will provide grants to local businesses, “Game Changers of Tomorrow” will reward twenty students with a VIP experience and an educational grant, and they will annually host the “Small Business Summit” at Providence Park offering workshops, keynote speakers and more to over 1oo local businesses. The Timbers and B of A will continue Stand Together Week, a week of local community works that include players, coaches, and fans.
