Luca Langoni signs for New England Revolution

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have signed Argentine winger/forward Luca Langoni.

He will occupy a U22 initiative roster slot.

Luca Langoni is a 22-year-old, 5’8, 161lb forward from Gregorio de Laferrère, Argentina.

At the club level, Langoni has played 68 career games (3,054 minutes) across Argentina with Club Atlético Boca Juniors (2023-Present)

Internationally, Langoni has 0 career appearances for the Argentina National Team at any level.

In total career numbers, the forward has contributed 11 career goals, 4 assists, along with 6 yellow cards and 0 red cards.

In regard to injury history, he’s been plagued with quite a few injuries over the last two seasons. They include a hamstring injury in April of 2023, a muscle injury in June & August of 2023, & a hip injury in May of 2024.

According to a report on July 2nd by Guillem Balague, of CBSSportsGolazo, BBC5Live, and LaLigaTV, he reported that New England were in advanced stages of negotiations. He also stated that MLS side Real Salt Lake as well as two Spanish teams are interested in Langoni’s signature.

Later that same day, Argentinian journalist César Luis Merlo had also confirmed the report that the New England Revolution had opened negotiations for Winger/Forward Luca Langoni.

A secondary source, Lucho Torres Toranzo, had reported that the Revolution had offered $6,000,000 for 70% of his player rights that was initially shut down.

On July 9th, Argentinian journalist César Luis Merlo had reported that the Luca Langoni would remain with Boca Juniors as the New England Revolution believed that the price requested for the winger/forward was too high. It was reported that New England submitted another offer for close to $7,000,000 that was rejected.

Just 5 days later, on July 14th, there were new developments as Blazing Musket reporter Seth Macomber reported that the Revolution were still in contention to sign Langoni.

Building off of Seth’s reported, Blazing Musket reporter Sam Minton reported 3 days later that sources close to Langoni told him that Langoni was interested in the move to New England and that Langoni wanted the sides to come to an agreement.

 

On July 21st, Argentinian journalist Adriano Savalli of Mercado de Pases reported that Luca Langoni was close to signing for New England, with the deal set to be completed in a few hours.

On July 23rd, it was confirmed that the deal had been completed.

Pending a completed physical, Luca Langoni will join New England from Boca Juniors for $6,800,000 + $500,000 in add-ons for 80% of the player’s rights. There will be a 20% future sell-on clause.

This is New England’s first signing of the Secondary MLS Transfer Window.

They are still able to make signings until Wednesday, August 14th.
