FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are reportedly still interested in signing Argentinian winger Joaquín Pereyra from Argentinian Primera División side Club Atlético Tucumán on loan from Rosario Central.

He would occupy a senior roster slot and International Roster Slot according to MLS Roster rules.

Joaquín Pereyra is a 25-year-old, 6’1, 161lb winger from Paraná, Argentina.

At the club level, Pereyra has played 178 career games (11,516 minutes) across Argentina and Portugal. He began his career and still remains a player of Argentinian side Rosario Central (2016-present). While with Rosario, Pereyra has gone on loan twice. His loan spells were spent Portuguese side Futebol Clube de Famalicão (2020-21) and Club Atlético Tucumán (2021-present). If he were to join New England, it would be his 4th club.

Internationally, Pereyra has made two U-20 appearances for Argentina.

In career numbers, the winger has contributed 6 career goals, 13 assists, along with 34 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

In February, Argentinian journalist César Luis Merlo reported that the New England Revolution had submitted a formal offer for the Argentinian winger that was rejected. I confirmed César Luis Merlo‘s report of the club’s interest and offer for the midfielder/winger.

According to reports in February, Joaquín Pereyra indicated to the board that he intended on leaving the club and sat out two matches to finish the deal.

The deal was co-operated but ended up falling through on February 27th due to disagreements between the two clubs.

Club Atlético Tucumán confirmed the reports of an offer in a statement that was released the following day. Their statement can be found at the link here.

Reports re-ignited on June 26th that New England was competing with Club Atlético Talleres of the Argentine top-flight for Joaquín Pereyra’s signature.

Still awaiting further confirmation.
