Newport County’s Dominic Telford and Finn Azaz claim place in the Sky Bet League Two team of the season.
Both players have played a huge role for the Exiles this season in their push for a play-off place.
Finn Azaz, who’s on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa, was also named League Two Young Player of the season.
Azaz has enjoyed an impressive campaign, the 21-year-old has made 40 appearances so far, he’s currently scored six goals and provided six assists.
Whereas Telford was in the running for the League Two Player of the Season award, but the prize ended up in the hands of Forst Green Rovers player Kane Wilson.
Despite this Telford, who has an astonishing 25 league goals this season, is currently the leading goal scorer in League Two.
The pair picked up their awards at the EFL Awards 2022 which took place on Sunday night at theGrosvenor House Hotel in London.
Despite the efforts of Telford and Azaz, Newport have lost five of their last seven games which has pushed them away from the promotion places.
At one point it seemed that Newport were going to achieve automatic promotion but due to their recent form they have fallen out of the play-off places.
The Exiles will a have to challenge to keep prolific striker next season as there has been rumours of clubs higher up in the EFL looking to get the signature of Telford.
As well as this, sadly for Newport, Azaz’s loan deal will be coming to a close at the end of the season as he looks to return to his parent club, Aston Villa.
If both players aren’t playing for Newport next season, I think it’s fair to say the Exiles will have a massive task in replacing two players of their quality.
