Play-off hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers host Plymouth Argyle

Wycombe Wanderers will aim to jump in to the top six when they welcome Plymouth Argyle to Adams Park tomorrow.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men sit just outside the play-off positions in League One on goal difference, but find themselves on an eight-game unbeaten run, collecting 18 points.

They suffered disappointment in their last game however, being pegged back to draw 1-1 with relegation-threatened Gillingham, despite striker Sam Vokes giving them the lead.

This saw the Buckinghamshire outfit fail to punish the slip up of top-six rivals Sheffield Wednesday, who were also involved in a 1-1 draw away to Bolton Wanderers.

Meanwhile, opponents Plymouth Argyle are in a far more comfortable place, sitting fourth and looking to consolidate their play-off ticket with victory.

The Pilgrims have had a slight blip in form on their travels as they were beaten by Ipswich Town at the end of March, before being held to a goalless draw at Burton Albion last weekend.

Key Players:

For the hosts, Sam Vokes will be the main danger, looking to add to the 15 goals he’s tallied up for the campaign, while Gareth McCleary aims to show his creativity off the right flank and get in to double figures.

Argyle boss Steven Schumacher could count on Niall Ennis to add a goal threat along with Jordon Garrick, who has deputised well in the absence of top scorer Ryan Hardie.

Luke Jephcott could be one to watch and might be considered for a return to the starting XI, with the forward already netting 11 goals so far this season.

Team News:

Wycombe will be without midfielder Lewis Wing, who was sent off last weekend at Gillingham.

Centre-back Anthony Stewart remains side-lined so Chris Forino-Joseph is expected to remain in defence.

Meanwhile, Plymouth have no major injury concerns. and there’s plenty of competition for places heading in to the final few games.

Predicted Lineups:

Wycombe: (4-2-3-1) Stockdale; McCarthy, Tafazolli, Forino-Joseph, Jacobsen; Scowen, Wheeler; Mehmeti, Horgan, McCleary; Vokes

Plymouth: (3-5-2) Cooper; Wilson, Scarr, Gillesphey; Edwards, Camara, Houghton, Mayor, Law; Jephcott, Ennis
