Bournemouth looking to get back on the winning trail with visit of Luton Town

Bournemouth have a chance to make amends for the midweek disappointment against Millwall as they host an out of of form Luton Town this weekend.

The Cherries missed the chance to break into the top two of the second tier after conceding a late equaliser to Matt Smith of Millwall which meant they remained in third place, behind Swansea City on goal difference.

The Hatters were also in action in midweek, falling to a 2-0 defeat to QPR as Charlie Austin scored on his return to the club with Nathan Jones’ side winning just two of their last eight which has seen them drop to 14th, although they are still only seven points off the top six and well clear of the drop zone.

Both sides met just over a month ago when they played out a goalless draw at Kenilworth Road which at the time saw the Cherries lose further ground on Norwich at the top of the table.

Bournemouth will view this game as a massive opportunity to get back to winning ways with the next league game coming quickly after on Tuesday evening against Derby County.

The Bedfordshire club have struggled in front of goal so far this season – finding the back of the net just 19 times in the Championship and will be heavily reliant on top scorer James Collins if they are to breakthrough a mean Cherries back line which has conceded just 19 themselves in the opening half of the season.

Jason Tindall’s side have been impressive at home this season, losing just once to Preston North End and currently have the fourth best record at their own ground in the division, while Jones’ side have found it tough on their travels, winning just three of their eleven away games to date and have the 18th best away record in the league.

The Cherries’ boss is sweating over the fitness of winger Junior Stanislas who limped off in the draw with Millwall. Tindall provided an update on the player’s fitness in his post match press conference following the clash against the Lions.

“It didn’t look great when he came off, but we’ll just keep our fingers crossed it’s one of those things that settles down in the next 24 hours and isn’t too bad.

“But to try and say how bad it is now, so soon after the game, is very difficult.”
