Wycombe look to fuel survival hopes as they host struggling QPR

Wycombe Wanderers will be looking to pick up their first three points since the beginning of November as they host a struggling QPR side at Adams Park on Saturday afternoon.

Despite some promising performances of late, Gareth Ainsworth’s men have managed a disappointing two wins from their opening 19 games of the season.

Although they sit just two points off the bottom spot in the Championship, recent displays against the likes of last year’s Premier League relegated side, Bournemouth, will give the Wanderers hope as they narrowly lost 1-0.

QPR’s worrying form has also continued going six games without a win since a 3-2 victory over Rotherham in November.

Mark Warburton’s side have disappointed in the final third as of late, scoring just one in their last four games and top scorer, Lyndon Dykes, failing to bag one in their last five, who will most definitely be a threat to Wycombe and looking to turn QPR’s season around.

Lack of creativity has proved costly for the visitors this season, having lost former star man Eberechi Eze to Crystal Palace in the summer and lost that spark going forward, with Warburton failing to replace him so far, although could address this in the January transfer window.

Both teams will feel as though they could take all three points from this game.  A win for the West London side could see them jump up two places in the league, whereas Wycombe will be unmoved in the table if they are to secure a home victory, but could bolster their survival hopes to kick on for the second half of the season.

QPR’s away form is a concern for Mark Warburton going into this game having lost three out their last four games away from home, a run that they will be looking to put to an end to, to give themselves space from the relegation zone, where Wycombe sit eight points behind.

Team News

Top scorer for Wanderers, Scott Kashket, and Adebayo Akinfenwa will be likely to start, with Kashket looking to add to his goal tally and Akinfenwa providing a presence to hopefully net his first of the season in the league.

Wycombe will be without Alex Pattison after he was sent off against Bournemouth in mid-week and is suspended for this match.  Dominic Gape could feature despite coming off injured in the defeat on the south coast.

Uche Ikpeazu, Ryan Tafazolli and Darius Charles are all available to play, however Curtis Thompson is still a doubt for the home side and is not fit for the bench.

Long-term injuries for QPR midfielders Luke Amos and Charlie Owens mean that they are out for the time being.

Hoping to return to form since signing from Livingston in the summer is Lyndon Dykes, who will most likely lead the line for QPR with Warburton also able to turn to Macauley Bonne as an option up front for the away side.
