Can Kane Hemmings’ return to the squad help Burton to a much needed win

Burton Albion welcome Doncaster Rovers to The Pirelli stadium in hope they can pick up a much-needed victory.

It will be tough for Jake Buxton’s men as the away side are full of momentum after climbing into the play-offs following their midweek victory against Swindon Town.

The Brewers have certainly improved in recent weeks, only losing once in five matches, and that loss came on Tuesday night against Ipswich away.

It’s good that performances getting better, however Burton just don’t seem to be gaining any high ground on opponents around them. As fellow strugglers seem to be improving performances as well, a win this weekend would be ever so precious.

It has been seven draws so far this season for the home side and it’s fair to say it would be so vital to turn these draws into victories, especially with such a busy Christmas schedule coming up.

With lots of their rivals dropping points in recent weeks, Darren Moore’s side have taken advantage of this and won three games on the bounce. You’d have to go back to April 2019 for the last time Rovers won four in a row.

The South Yorkshire side certainly have the resources for it. Southampton loanee Josh Sims has been providing and scoring goals for his current side, but rumour has it Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is preparing to call back the 23-year-old to cash in on him.

It would be a huge shame for Doncaster to see him leave, though nothing is cemented yet as Sims is still a Donny player until the end of the season. He has had a positive effect on the Rovers attack.

Another player who has been hot on the cards for the visitors this season is Ben Whitemen the box-to-box midfielder is their top scorer with seven goals, and also an impressive five assists.

Doncaster are the joint second top scorers in League one, and they have spread their goals across 14 different players, which is highly impressive.

Jake Buxton has a full squad to pick from for the first time in a long time. Kane Hemmings is available to start for the first time in a month which is a huge boost for the home side desperately needing the three points, it would be written in the stars for the local lad to come back to the starting 11 and score.

Buxton said, “He has trained well, he will be available on Saturday and I hope he can play a big part.”
