MK Dons host AFC Wimbledon at Stadium MK in what will be the strangest of derbies, as the two sides face for the first time behind closed doors.
MK Dons, under the tutelage of Russell Martin, enter the clash with impressive home form, having drawn once and won twice in their last three outings. Should the side from Buckinghamshire prevail, it will be the first back-to-back wins this season.
Having netted twice in the space of five minutes last time out against Wigan Athletic, the Dons boast the highest percentage of possession of all teams from Europe’s top five leagues.
Sitting directly behind MK (61.7%) are Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund (61.2% and 61.1% respectively) which reveals the pride Martin has in his team playing a positive, possession-based style of football, playing through the phases and breaking the opposition down.
In their last game at home on Tuesday evening, Dean Lewington, the current longest-serving one-club professional made his 800th appearance, and the 36-year-old is looking to captain his side to another victory against their biggest rivals.
AFC Wimbledon arrive in Milton Keynes sitting 11th in the Sky Bet League One table after tallying 12 points from the nine games they have played so far.
Glynn Hodges oversaw a large turnover of the playing staff during the recent Transfer Window, bringing in nine new faces to bolster their ranks.
The side from Kingston upon Thames are heavily reliant on their strikers, Joe Piggott and Ryan Longman. Piggott has found the net three times so far this season, as well as contributing just as many assists, whilst Longman has netted three goals himself.
As mentioned above, MK Dons played Wigan Athletic and ran out 2-0 victors. Following a dominant display, Scott Fraser and Stephen Walker both struck for the home side bringing in a deserved three points.
Elsewhere, AFC Wimbledon themselves ran out 1-0 winners over Blackpool. Callum Reilly scored the only goal of the game, which saw Blackpool end with nine-men after both Ethan Robson and Daniel Ballard were given their marching orders.
