In today’s edition of the Birthday Boys, we have another two quality players feature on the series. Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Alaves Fernando Pacheco celebrate their birthday’s today.
Ryan Sessegnon
The Tottenham mdifielder turns 20 today and he’s had a fantastic start to his career so far. Let’s explore how he has done so far in his career.
His career started for Fulham as he made the step from U18 football to the first-team in 2016. In the 16/17 season, Sessegnon would feature 29 times in the Fulham side scoring seven goals and assisting five times as they would miss out going up to the Premier League losing to Reading in the semi-final of the play-offs 2-1 on aggregate.
He would flurish in the 17/18 season as he found himself playing regular football for the senior team that season. 52 appearances in all competitions, 16 goals and eight assists plus promotion into the Premier League as they beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.
He would feature 38 times in Fulham’s 18/19 season. He scored two goals and assisted six times as Fulham went back down to the Championship.
Sessegnon would return back to the Premier League though as Tottenham bought the youngster for £27 million in August 2019. He featured 12 times for Spurs this season scoring one goal and assisting once but is definetely one to look out for in the years to come.
Sessegnon has played at every single level for England apart from the senior team and was a European champion with the U19’s in 2017.
Fernando Pacheco
The goalkeeper turns 28 today and has been a solid goalkeeper for Alaves. Let’s have a look at what his career has looked like up to this point.
The shot-stopper started his career at Real Madrid and climbed through the youth ranks reaching Real’s B team RM Castilla who were in La Liga 2 in 2013.
He would appear 39 times in goal for Casilla keeping ten clean sheets that season seeing the goalkeeper get his chance for the senior team in 2014.
Pacheco made a short eight minute appearanc in the Copa del Rey in 2011, but would get a full 90 minutes guarding the Real Madrid goal in the Copa del Rey against UE Cornella. He would keep a clean sheet in that game but would never appear for the first team again.
In the summer of 2015, Deportivo Alaves came swooping in for the goalkeeper who signed for the club on a free transfer. He’s been at Alaves ever since not getting the opportunity at Real Madrid.
In his first season at the club, he would feature 42 times in the team keeping 21 clean sheets as Alaves were promoted up into La Liga.
He’s played 136 times in between Alaves’ sticks in the last four seasons keeping 39 clean sheets which has been an impressive feat for Pacheco.
He’s yet to make a senior appearance for Spain and has played at every level for Spain from U19’s to U21’s.
He is a UEFA Supercup and FIFA Club World Cup winner with Real Madrid but, did not feature in any of those tournaments only appearing on the bench.
