Bundesliga matchday 19: Eintracht earns their wings

A tight title race and movement in the relegation race after Bundesliga Matchday 19.

RB Leipzig on their run of three goals a match were looking good at the top of the Bundesliga, that was until they visited the Waldstadion. Eintracht was able to put an end to that as they earned another victory 2-0 over visitors from old East Germany.

The first half was one of more old school bombardment as Eintracht had a mere shot on goal to the double digits that Leipzig was launching. Kudos to Kevin Trapp who was able to come up with the saves in the first half. A lazer from Almamy Toure meant Leipzig was chasing and never got back into the match.

Borussia Dortmund came back to Westfalenstadion thinking they’d come out and light one up against relegation strugglers FC Köln. A brace from Erling Haland later and BVB found themselves 5-1 victors.

Scoring two goals in the one half as a substitute, EBH is merely working his way up to full fitness and once that happens even if he is working at a quarter of his currently goal clip, he will be the most valuable striker in Europe.

Bayern and Schalke are big hitters in the German soccer community, but when this usually takes place on the pitch the matches are memorable. For Schalke, this will be memorable on its own after losing 5-0.

The high line that the Royal Blues unleashed on Bayern was doomed to fail. The Bavarians are on a serious vein of form. With European matches within three weeks, leg one of the round of 16 will mean Chealsea will be against the wall.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Borussia Monchengladbach was back to running riot as the Foals put Mainz back into the relgation zone with a 3-1 win.

Hertha Berlin turned Wolfsburg’s lives upside down with a 2-1 win that sees the downward spiral of Wolfsburg continue.

SC Paderborn find themselves finally off of the bottom after a miraculous 2-0 victory away to Freiburg.

Union Berlin can consider themselves nearly saved from the drop in their debut season after a 2-0 win over Augsburg.

Werder Bremen find themselves down in the dumps after their 3-0 loss to Hoffenheim, who only know how they will be able to pull off another great escape.

Leverkusen shows themselves to be a top tier club, a 3-0 win over Dusseldorf is a sign that they will stay there and in European conversation as well.
