Out of form Blackburn look for their first win in five as they host relegation threatened Coventry

Tony Mowbray will be hoping to put an end to Blackburn’s poor run of form as Championship strugglers Coventry visit Ewood Park.

Rovers head into this fixture on the back of five consecutive losses, with the latest coming on Wednesday night as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to promotion chasing Watford.

Despite putting up a good fight they were dealt another blow as the Hornets’ win left Blackburn in 15th position and 10 points above the relegation zone.

The visitors this weekend aren’t in great form themselves as the Sky Blues head to Blackburn with just one win in their previous seven, and lie precariously just five points above the drop having played two games more than Rotherham below them.

Their only win in this poor run did however come against Brentford who sit poised in second position, Coventry winning the game 2-0 as attacker Tyler Walker netted twice.

Rovers fans will be hoping leading talisman Adam Armstrong can rediscover his early season form as he currently sits on 19 goals for the season, with Brentford striker Ivan Toney the only player to notch more with 24.

In the reverse of this fixture it was Armstrong who dealt a blow to the Coventry defence as the striker netted two on a day as Blackburn romped to a 4-0 victory.

On-loan Liverpool winger Harvey Elliot has also impressed this campaign as he’s registered 14 goal involvements in just 26 appearances. At just 17 years old the youngster has took the Championship by storm attaining the joint most assists in the league level on nine with Ivan Toney and Emiliano Buendia.

Rovers manager Town Mowbray has confirmed that Jacob Davenport will miss Saturday’s encounter with Coventry due to a groin injury.

The midfielder started last weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest however missed out during midweek against Watford. Mowbray confirmed Davenport could be sidelined for up to two months.

The 22-year-old joins an already lengthy Rovers injury list as Lewis Holtby, Bradley Johnson and Sam Gallagher all remain out.

However some positive news for Blackburn fans is that Darragh Lenihan could feature against the Sky Blues. The defender missed the last two games due to a rib injury but did train on Saturday morning and is in contention to start.

Coventry boss Mark Robins has a clean bill of health and could potentially name an unchanged team after two previous encouraging performances against Brentford and Swansea respectively.
