Following a long-ball over the top, Prince Owusu received the ball in-behind and managed to five-hole Matt Turner to make it 1-0.
In the 32nd minute, CF Montréal added to their lead.

Following a diagonal ball across the box, midfielder Dagur Thórhallsson received the pass and slotted the effort into the bottom corner past Matt Turner to make it 2-0.
New England had a chance to pull one back right before halftime after a cross into the area by defender Ilay Feingold was headed just wide of the net by midfielder Carles Gil.
After the initial 45 minutes, CF Montréal entered halftime with a 2-0 lead.

New England had a chance with Dor Turgeman when his looping shot went just over the bar.
Another chance for New England came when winger Griffin Yow’s volleyed effort was saved.
In the 61st minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first two changes of the match by replacing Will Sands & Alhassan Yusuf with Ethan Kohler & Allan Oyirwoth.
Just 10 minutes later, New England underwent a line change. New England lineup: Matt Turner, Ilay Feingold, Andrew Farrell, Keegan Hughes, Ethan Kohler, Jackson Yueill, Matt Polster, Allan Oyirwoth, Javaun Mussenden, Malcolm Fry, Cristiano Oliveira.
In the 75th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made one more change by replacing Ilay Feingold with Gabe Dahlin.
After the initial 90 minutes, CF Montreal had a 2-0 advantage. As this is a preseason match, they agreed to play an additional 45 minutes.

Prior the start of the final half, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made two more changes by replacing Matt Turner & Allan Oyirwoth with Donovan Parisian & Eric Klein.

Midfielder Malcolm Fry connected with midfielder Eric Klein, who then found midfielder Javaun Mussenden, who slid Fry through with an L-pass, for Fry to bury it into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1.
After the 135 minutes, CF Montreal held on for the 2-1 victory.

Speaking after the match, New England Revolution Assistant Coach Sean Hughes stated the team defended quite well and are focused on moving the needle forward.
“There are moments that we have to do better. We created some good opportunities. The last pass, the last service into the box. We had some good moments to finish attacks that we’d like to take back. Defensively, the goals we gave up are really disappointing from our end”
“Take those two things out, we defended quite well as a whole, it’s kind of individual error/mistake that led to the goals, but overall, like every preseason game, we’re trying to move the needle forward & a-lot of positives to take away & learning lessons.”
Reflecting on the match, defender Ilay Feingold stated, “Unfortunately we didn’t win today but we a lot of positive things & some bad things, but we’ll from these things.”
