Denver Summit 2-2 Houston Dash
COMMERCE CITY, CO–Denver Summit and Houston Dash played on Sunday to a 2-2 draw before 15,131 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The result leaves the Summit in 11th place with the Dash a point behind in 12th. For the latter, it was just their fourth point on the road (1-5-1), while the Summit are still looking for win #2 at home (1-2-2).
Yasmeen Ryan opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a blast from outside the penalty area past Jane Campbell near post. The lead for the Summit, though, would last just 87 seconds. Maggie Graham’s cross into the box was behind Linda Ullmark, but Kat Radar was at the right place at the right time to make it 1-1.
Denver would regain the lead just before halftime from the penalty spot. Ally Brazier was felled in the penalty area by Cate Hardin, and Janine Sonis converted the ensuing spot kick. However, that lead would not last long into the second half. Another cross by Graham into the box would find Ullmark this time in the middle, and it was 2-2 in the 49th minute.
Both teams looked for the winner. Kate Fasse came closest for the Dash in the 88th minute with a shot just wide of target. Melissa Kossler came closest for the Summit, but was saved by Campbell.
Both teams are back in action next Saturday. Denver hosts Portland (12pm MT, CBS/Paramount+), while Houston travel to Racing Louisville (7pm CT, NWSL+).
