FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (3-1-4, 10 pts) were victorious 2-0 over New York City FC (3-2-4, 11 pts). on Saturday Afternoon.
The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 30,000.

The match kicked off with New York City FC starting from the center circle and advancing the ball immediately down the right flank.
New England had the first chance of the match when Tanner Beason’s long-ball found the feet of Leo Campana. His effort was met with a save by goalkeeper Matt Freese out for a corner kick.
Leo Campana had two more chances in the 11th minute when his first effort was blocked by Justin Haak and his second effort was sent high over the bar.
NYCFC’s first chance came in the 16th minute from a first time volley by Alonso Martínez that went just wide of the net.

Ignatius Ganago had his own chance in the 33rd minute when his effort at the top of the penalty spot was sent down the center of the goal.
New England’s next chance came 2 minutes later when Carles Gil’s effort was met with a comfortable diving stop by Matt Freese.
New England’s best chance of the half came in the 41st minute when a Carles Gil delivery to the back post was met with a half volley by Peyton Miller that was saved by Matt Freese.
Entering the 43rd minute, New England took the lead.

Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf played in forward Leo Campana who then connected a give-and-go with Ignatius Ganago. The ensuing shot by Campana was deflected and entered the net to make it 1-0 to New England.
After 45+1 minutes, the match entered halftime with the New England ahead 1-0.

The second half kicked off with New England immediately advancing the ball into New York’s defensive third.

Midfielder Carles Gil found forward Ignatius Ganago with a precise pass into the box for a tap-in to make it 2-0. With the assist by Carles Gil (his 74th), he moves past midfielder Steve Ralston to become the club’s all-time leader in total assists.
In the 53rd minute, Revolution midfielder Matt Polster was issued a yellow card.
In the 61st minute, NYCFC head coach Pascal Jansen made his first three changes of the match by replacing Jonny Shore, Mounsef Bakrar, & Mitja Ilenič with Tayvon Gray, Keaton Parks, & Andrés Perea.
Just five minutes later, in the 66th minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his first change of the match by replacing Leo Campana with Tomás Chancalay.

In the 74th minute, NYCFC head coach Pascal Jansen made his fourth change of the match by replacing Kevin O’Toole with Nico Cavallo.
Less than a minute later, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his second change by replacing Peyton Miller with Will Sands.
New England’s next chance came in the 80th minute when Carles Gil’s delivery into the area was met with a header by Will Sands and saved by Matt Freese.
In the 82nd minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his third & fourth change of the match by replacing Mamadou Fofana & Ignatius Ganago with Brandon Bye & Luca Langoni.

NYCFC’s next best chance came in the 84th minute when Alonso Martínez’ effort was saved by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.
NYCFC had yet another chance in the 88th minute when a shot by Tayvon Gray was saved out for a corner kick by Aljaž Ivačič.
In the 90+1 minute, NYCFC midfielder Tayvon Gray was issued a yellow card for a harsh foul on Luca Langoni.
After 90+8 minutes, the match concluded with New England holding on to the 2-0 lead.
