FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution (8-4-16, 28 pts.) drew CF Montréal 2-2 (7-10-12, 31 pts.) on Saturday night.

The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 11,000.

The team started their lineup in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Aljaž Ivačič starting in net with a backline of (left back) Peyton Miller, (center backs) Dave Romney, and Xavier Arreaga, along with (right back) Nick Lima. The midfield spots were manned by Matt Polster (left defensive midfield) and Mark-Anthony Kaye (right defensive midfield), with Carles Gil appeared ahead of them (central attacking midfield). The forward roles were manned Luca Langoni (left wing), Esmir Bajraktarevic (right wing), and Bobby Wood as the lone striker.

The match began with CF Montréal starting from the center circle and elected to build out of the back to begin the match.

New England had the first chance of the match when Carles Gil’s shot deflected and fell to Nick Lima, whose half-volley attempt went just wide of the net.

Entering the 24th minute, New England gained the lead.

Midfielder Carles Gil found defender Peyton Miller, who laid the ball off for Bobby Wood, who then shot the ball past goalkeeper #40 Jonathan Sirois for the 1-0 advantage. This secondary assist by Carles Gil helps him pass Steve Ralston for most assists in New England Revolution history.

Less than one minute later, New England had yet another chance when midfielder Carles Gil’s effort went just wide of the left post.

CF Montreal’s first chance came in the 29th minute when midfielder #46 Tom Pearce’s freekick went just wide of the left post.

Just two minutes later, New England had yet another chance when Dave Romney’s headed effort was saved by by goalkeeper #40 Jonathan Sirois.

Midfielder Carles Gil found Esmir Bajraktarevic, who then elected for a left-footed shot that went into the corner pocket to make it 2-0 to New England.

New England thought they added to their lead in the 41st minute but Luca Langoni had drifted offside. The scoreline remained 2-0.

Less than 3 minutes later, midfielder #46 Tom Pearce put in another delivery into the area that was met by a palm save by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.

After the initial 45+2 minutes, the match entered halftime with New England ahead 2-0.

The second half began with New England starting from the center circle and swiftly advancing the ball into CF Montréal’s defensive third.

In the 49th minute, CF Montréal midfielder #46 Tom Pearce was issued a yellow card.

Entering the 54th minute, CF Montréal pulled one back.

Midfielder #46 Tom Pearce’s freekick went right into the top left corner to make it 2-1.

New England had three major chances when Esmir Bajraktarevic and Carles Gil were denied by players on the goal line in the 59th minute.

In the 62nd minute, CF Montréal head coach Laurent Courtois made his first three changes of the match by replacing midfielders #28 Jules-Anthony Vilsaint, #27 Dawid Bugaj and #7 Kwadwo Opoku for midfielders #23 Caden Clark, #8 Dominkik Yankov, and #11 Jahkeele Marhsall-Rutty.

CF Montréal had another amazing chance in the 65th minute when midfielder #6 Samuel Piette’s long distant effort was met with a diving save by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.

Two minutes later, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his first change of the match by replacing Matt Polster with Alhassan Yusuf.

Defender #24 George Campbell played the ball into space to find midfielder #19 Nathan Saliba, who turned and unleashed a shot that snuck into the top corner to level it 2-2.

In the 71st minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his second and third changes of the match by replacing Bobby Wood and Luca Langoni with Giacomo Vrioni and Emmanuel Boateng.

Less than a minute later, CF Montréal forward #11 Jahkeele Marhsall-Rutty was issued a yellow card.

New England’s next chance came in the 73rd minute when Alhassan Yusuf’s volley attempt was saved.

In the 78th minute, CF Montréal head coach Laurent Courtois made his fourth change of the match by replacing midfielder #46 Tom Pearce with defender #44 Raheem Edwards.

In the 80th minute, Revolution defender Peyton Miller was issued a yellow card.

Just two minutes later, in the 82nd minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his final changes of the match by replacing midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye and Esmir Bajraktarevic with Ian Harkes and Nacho Gil.
