The Portland Timbers had a night to remember in the second match of the Leagues Cup group stage in a 4-0 win over Colorado Rapids at Providence Park.  Anthony opened the score in minute 30 assisted by Felipe Mora in what had been quite a balanced first half. The second half would see Colorado’s debacle first with David Ayala heading a cross by Cristian Paredes in minute 52. Mason Toye scored the third assisted by Juan Mosquera in 69, and Santiago Moreno would close the count in minute 71, assisted by Evander Ferreira.

It was not just the perfect game for Phil Neville’s pupils, also the send off party for retiring Larry’s Mabiala who played his last minutes of his career in the last ten of regulation. The jubilant Timbers fans started asking for his name around minute 70, and with such favorable score, Phil didn’t doubt it, and Evander needed him the captain armband. At the end of the match supporters wished farewell to the defender chanting “one of us”, in a very emotional closure to brilliant career.
